Tekmedia’s Fibre Optic Link system designed for SMATV is the ideal solution when installing a large distribution of TV signals.

The system is particularly indicated where the distance between the source and the RF signal does not allow the use of conventional coaxial cable due to an increase in signal impairment and loss especially at higher frequencies.

The Fibre Optic Link system employs single-mode optical fibres with a band attenuation of approximately 0.5 dB per Km.

Optical fibres may cover a distance of up to 20 Km without re-launching and can connect points over areas which were previously unthinkable with conventional coaxial cables.

Optical fibre solutions by Tekmedia

More cost effective than conventional cable the Fibre Optic Link system is also more versatile, especially where installations require several blocks containing user sockets spread over a large area.

The special optical splitters are capable of subdividing the signal into several parts (up to 8 ) without altering the quality of the signal emitted from the head-end.

Operating with just one single TX laser transmitter the Fibre Optic System may ‘split’ the signal and then, via the optical path reach each block containing the individual user sockets.

The provision of just one head-end for large areas will facilitate installation and subsequent safe maintenance of the link system.

Furthermore it has been proven that the glass fibre used to transmit the light source is totally unaffected by electromagnetic interference.

Data transmission with optical fiber

Transmission of a chosen channel group to the main distribution node via the optical path also guarantees a high quality signal which does not deteriorate in time. In addition to its resistant qualities the optical fibre is extremely flexible.

It is very small in diameter and can be installed into existing lines, even where tension network cables are present. The versatility and excellent transmission quality of the Fibre Optic Link System present installation options unthinkable with conventional cable systems.

Tekmedia’s Fibre Optic Link system consists of a TX laser transmitter and an RX laser receiver; the optical coupling for point 2 point linkage up to 20km, or alternatively a TX laser transmitter, optical splitter with up to 8 outputs and consequently 8 RX laser receivers; the recommended Link System for installations that require a multi signal distribution.

Note, with a multi signal distribution there is a proportional reduction in the maximum range for each optical path section.
